No it's not. However, most black women do so because black hair is usually dry and very fragile. Sleeping with a silk scarf helps retain moissture and prevents damage while sleeping. If your hair is oily, you probably would not want to do this, as your hair will probably retain too must moisture and be more oily when you wake up. However, anyone with dry/ damaged hair can benefit from sleeping with a silk scarf. Or on pillows with silk covers. |
