Question: Why do so many black women in my community get so angry?

When I make comments on how natural their hair looks? Or when I say something like I didn't realize how long your hair is? You know what MAya if you wanna be all high and mighty and be a stereotypical bitter black woman why don't you open up your questions to let the public judge yours. |

We straighten our hair to make it easier to manage/ clean. Its not like plastic surgery or bleaching our skin. |

Black women are tired of people making hair so political...it is what it is. We are human just as anyone else. You know you wouldn't say that sh** to anyone else. Leave black women alone about their hair...because that's all it is. |

You may not understand this but most of us black women are sensitive about our hair because of how hard it is to take care of our hair. even though you may not realize it sayin how natural a black womens hair looks is like callin a white person a cracker |

I had to wake up at 6:30 one moring so I straightened my hair the night before so I wouldn't have to do it the next day and some gay Asian guy walked up to me and asked if it was "all my real hair " ?!?!? He was like "Giiiiiiiiirl! Is that all your real hair??? " and I said yeah and he goes "OOooo look at you, all prissy like 'Yup and I'm beautiful too' *he laughs* I bet people always ask you this! " I just smiled and told him I had to get to class. People are seriously OBSESSED with black women's hair. When I'm natural they want to touch it and they look at you from across rooms and stuff like you're some endangered species, then when its straight and you're just trying to fit in they think you want to be white!?! Its HAIR! Non black women put way too much thought into whats on our head! |
